The skin is your largest organ.
Whatever you put on it, goes in it. Harmful chemicals that are applied topically via your cosmetics can permeate the skin, get into your blood stream and from there, into your entire body. Over time, they can accumulate, damage your cells, harm your organs and disrupt your endocrine system. In short: The type of products you use (soap, shampoo, lotion, makeup, and yes, sunscreen!) highly matters.
Self care. Natural beauty. Balance.
We have all heard about self care. It’s the trendy new buzzword on social media – the antidote to our increasingly busy, fast paced and quickly changing everyday lives. It’s the all encompassing permission slip to indulge in spa days and treat ourselves to expensive face masks; or so it seems. However, for Maddy Dixon – founder of Australian-based company Flora Remedia – self care is far more than a trend.
Finally, a natural deodorant that really works (really!).
Ever since I have been en route to green living, I have tried to drag my family along. My kids have been easy so far because obviously, they do not have a choice (sorrynotsorry). However, my husband has been a bit of a different story especially when it comes to cleaning up his bathroom cabinet. It’s not that he doesn’t care about his health or the health of our planet – not at all! It’s more like that when it comes to personal care items, he is a typical guy who wants to conveniently grab whatever stuff he needs on his way home from work and that is on sale for five bucks tops at the drugstore. Can you blame him? I think not!
Setting a new standard for beauty and fragrance.
Our sense of smell is very powerful. In fact, very few things bring us back to long gone moments and distant memories as quickly as a certain smell.
I stuck to my “signature scent” for years and have just recently and very reluctantly given it up. I definitely did not quit cold turkey, rather slowly phased it out over the last year by only using it for special occasions etc. However, I still love it and can safely say that perfume has been one of my last “dirty product frontiers.”
Why dirty? Let’s talk about what health concerns we need to be aware of when it comes to perfume and “fragrance” in general…
The UK’s most loved organic skin care brand is now available in the US.
Although I am from Germany and spend quite a bit of time in Europe, I had never heard of Green People before. Needless to say, I was very intrigued when they contacted me and send some products my way to try and review. I was even more intrigued when I read about how their company got started nearly 20 years ago, way before green beauty was ever a “thing.”
