Coconut kisses & mermaid wishes
Oh Leahlani, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
If you have been following me for a while you might remember the love letter I wrote to this amazing brand last summer. If you’re new to my antics, let me get you up to speed.
Leahlani Skincare is a small batch artisanal skin care line from the beautiful island of Kauai. Leah Klasovsky – the owner after which the company is named – is a holistic esthetician turned formulator whose own struggle with acne ten years ago has led her down a path of self healing and healing others. Throughout her journey she discovered that the true power to nurturing and transforming people’s skin lay in her hands and she was set on creating equally as powerful potions that would turn one’s skin care routine into a daily ritual.
I discovered Leahlani last year while I was in the midst of having some skin issues of my own, and after I visited an incredibly talented and knowledgeable organic facialist here in Phoenix. Based on her recommendation, I checked out Leahlani’s Mermaid Mask and have never looked back.
Once I discover a brand I truly love, I become fiercely loyal to it. Leahlani definitely is one of them but with one exception – the loyalty extends far beyond the brand itself. You can’t help but become loyal to Leah as well. Through her positive and caring nature she always makes you feel special and appreciated despite the fact that you are only one of about 17,000 other loyal followers she is constantly communicating with through social media.
Leah spent the last two years updating her entire brand tweaking the formulas of her beloved bestsellers, creating an entire range of new products, designing beautiful new packaging and launching her own company website (her products used to be sold exclusively though Etsy.com). All of these highly anticipated improvements had the green beauty community buzzing with excitement for months and when it all finally came to life a couple of weeks ago, the wild rumpus started. I was lucky enough to get my hands on two of Leahlani’s new creations right away and as expected, they did not disappoint!
I recently ran out of my beloved Siren Serum and was excited to try Mahina in its place. Formulated with organic moringa and marula oils, organic prickly pear seed oil, chia and carrot seed oil, Mahina tones, replenishes and softens the skin while you sleep. It repairs the damage from the day’s pollutants, balances moisture and rejuvenates each cell so you wake up to a healthy and more vibrant complexion. The first whiff of warm vanilla and refreshing citrus alone will lure you in! Usually, I cleanse or exfoliate with the Honey Love 3-in-1 (my all-time favorite product, hands down!) followed by a toner or hydrosol and when still damp, I massage a few drops of Mahina into my skin. Game changer!
This is one of Leah’s new products she seems to be most proud of! Bless is a silken balm that delicately melts between your finger tips. It is highly concentrated and is free of water, wax and emulsifiers. Rich, organic shea and cocoa butters are combined with organic and cold pressed beauty oils to nurture your skin for an incredible softness. The sweet scent of orange blossom infused with tranquil blue tansy calms your mind and uplifts your spirit. I like using Bless as an eye balm and lip conditioner and, on days when my skin feels especially dry, allover my face to lock in Mahina for extra hydration. My skin drinks it in and is calm and glowy the next morning.
Leahlani’s new potions have already reached “favorite product” status just like the Mermaid Mask, the Honey Love 3-in-1 and the Champagne Serum all of which I have used religiously over the last year. Even some of my closest friends in Germany have Leah’s products shipped to them despite various customs delays and relatively high shipping costs. But who can blame them? Once you get on this aloha bandwagon it is hard to get off!
Ready to try Leahlani for yourself? I have teamed up with Leah for a very special giveaway to celebrate a very special occasion coming up on The Healthy Haus this Thursday. Stay tuned for details – you don’t want to miss this!
