Product Review and Discount Code: Green People

The UK’s most loved organic skin care brand is now available in the US.

Although I am from Germany and spend quite a bit of time in Europe, I had never heard of Green People before. Needless to say, I was very intrigued when they contacted me and send some products my way to try and review. I was even more intrigued when I read about how their company got started nearly 20 years ago, way before green beauty was ever a “thing.”

In the early 90’s, Charlotte Vøhtz’s daughter Sandra was battling multiple skin allergies and eczema. And when Charlotte was unable to find truly organic skin care that would give her daughter any relief, she started making her own organic creams and salves that quickly showed their effectiveness. After several years of thorough research and development and with a promise to never use aggressive ingredients or synthetic chemicals (such as sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol, synthetic fragrances or colorants) in her products, and to never test on animals, Green People was born in 1997.

Today, Green People is proud to offer a complete range of certified organic products for babies, teens, men and women that have won over 125 prestigious awards across the industry. Every product is packed with about 90% active natural and organic ingredients to protect, nourish, balance and, most importantly, respect your body. Building on Green People’s amazing success in Europe, Charlotte is now bringing her organic range to Americans who want outstanding natural skin care from a trustworthy company.

And if that does not win you over, maybe this will: You can feel good supporting this brand as 10% of their profits is donated to a variety of charities (a detailed list can be found on their website). In addition, they use only fairly traded ingredients and offer products that are sustainable and kind to the skin and the environment. Pretty impressive, no?

After having thoroughly tested Green People on myself and my babes, these are some of their standout products that I would recommend to anyone looking to buy truly organic yet relatively affordable skin and body care.

Fruit Scrub Exfoliator – $23.00

Made with 88% certified organic ingredients, this product is a highly effective yet gentle natural exfoliator. Apply it to clean, dry skin using small circular movements once or twice a week for instant radiance. It has more of a cream consistency rather than a harsh lather which makes this product non-drying and suitable for all skin types. With a pleasant fruity smell of apricot, mandarin and bergamot it vaguely reminds me of the St. Ives Apricot Scrub I used waaay back in the day (minus all the nasties, of course!). It refines, cleanses and brightens your complexion and leaves your skin feeling smooth and super soft. A lovely product!

Vita Min Mask – $28.00

This mask is for you if you have dry or tired skin. Chock-full of plant actives and antioxidants from mandarin, seaweed and avocado, this alcohol-free anti-aging vitamin mask is hydrating, smoothing and revitalizing especially when used in combination with the aforementioned exfoliator. This mask will definitely be your friend in the upcoming colder months and will be sure to keep your skin moisturized and glowing. I’m especially loving the price tag on this! $28.00 is not a bad deal considering you can easily pay double that for many masks in general and most quality “green” masks in particular.

Fruitful Nights Night Cream – $28.00

To complete your night time skin care ritual, use the Fruitful Nights Night Cream after exfoliating and masking. This cream is nice and rich and is the perfect layering product over a serum. Organic rosehip, magnolia, damask rose, hibiscus and a proprietary blend of fruit extracts lift away dead skin cells and make any skin type appear more even and overall brighter. The Fruitful Nights Night Cream is also said to help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation although I have not used it long enough to confirm any long term results. What I can tell you though is that if you put this cream on before bedtime you wake up to plumper and more youthful looking skin.

Organic Babies Baby Wash & Shampoo Scent Free – $13.00

While everybody in my family is lucky enough not to suffer from serious skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema, I am always searching for products that are suitable for my 3-year old’s extra sensitive skin. Green People’s Scent Free line is great for babies and kids (or anyone, really!) with the same kind of skin type. This shampoo and body wash combo tuns into a nice lather that gets your little munchkins squeaky clean without irritating or stripping their skin. And while some scent free products can have a less than desirable odor, this wash is very neutral and has just a very faint yet pleasant medicinal smell to it. As with all of Green People’s products, this shampoo and body wash contains super-concentrated plant extracts so a little goes a long way!

Organic Babies Dry Skin Baby Lotion Scent Free – $17.50

This lotion is awesome! I am totally loving it for my son as well as for myself. Organic aloe vera, cocoa and shea butter, as well as calendula make this lotion super hydrating without being greasy or sticky. Rich in Omega-6 fatty acids to soothe and nourish, it is non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin. It can also double as a cleanser for baby’s delicate diaper area and is perfect for all the expectant mamas out there who cannot tolerate any fragrance. It somewhat reminded me of the Acure Bare Baby lotion but is a little easier to apply. I really love this one!
