The secret to achieving deep happiness and true power
The other day when I tested and reviewed YogaGlo for all my fellow yoga loving mamas out there, I was curious about some of the meditation classes they offer and gave this one a try:

David Wagner has been teaching classes on deep happiness and true power for over 25 years. This living wisdom session is especially designed for one’s upliftment and inner evolution.
Now, I know what some of my cynics are thinking – this may just be too esoteric for your taste. Besides, what’s with all the happiness or the vague idea thereof anyways? Just exactly how happy are you supposed to be at all times?
Well, you’ve come to the right place. Here at The Healthy Haus I’m not only all about giving you ideas on what to (slowly) change to improve your your life but also about giving practical solutions on how to do it. Any products I recommend or recipes I feature are all thoroughly tested and have proven to better the state of my body, my mind or my family in some way and hopefully can add value to yours, too. This class and David’s approach to finding happiness is no exception. It is practical and can be applied to any stage of your life, starting today.
Nobody can be happy all the time
This is absolutely correct, and you are not expected to be either. What is different about David’s approach is that deep happiness, or “radical happiness” as he refers to it, includes all the different states of being. It makes you feel genuinely happy without disregarding any of the other feelings you may go through on a daily basis. It lets you feel temporary grief or sadness or disappointment. Deep happiness gives you an all encompassing sense of fulfillment that still lets you feel negative emotions without the general state of happiness disappearing. It goes beyond the things that bring us short term pleasure like buying a new pair of shoes or getting a massage. He calls it “true power” because he sees it as an overall empowered state of being in which one knows his or her own strength even in moments of weakness or depletion. This true and unconditional power never goes away.
How does one achieve this deep happiness and true power?
David has found that people who feel deep happiness and true power seem to all have these three keys in common:
1. To know your true life’s purpose and be on track with living your vision.
Some people know what their purpose in life is at a very young age. For others, like me, it can take some time. Some may even feel like they have not found their purpose at all yet and that is OK, too. In that case, just acknowledge it. Your purpose right now is that you have not found your purpose yet. Be patient and do not worry. You, too, will find it and once you do, you will be able to see it very clearly.
The great thing about David’s method to finding your life’s purpose is that it does not have to be perfect right away. It is a process that can take weeks, months or even years. The most important thing is that in finding your purpose you live your truth, not someone else’s.
Your purpose can be anything. For example, if you want to become an artist and touch people’s lives with your paintings you do not have to be a professional painter whose work is displayed in a famous art gallery right away. As soon as you sign up for a painting class or buy art supplies you are on track with living your vision.
2. To cultivate a deep and authentic spiritual connection.
According to David, deeply happy and truly powerful people cultivate a deep and authentic spiritual connection. “Authentic” meaning it has to be something that feels true to you. “Deep” meaning you connect with something that is beyond and greater than you, something that affects your inner core and produces results.
For some people cultivating a deep and authentic spiritual connection means going to and being involved in their church. However, this is not the only way. You might meditate, spend time in nature, practice yoga, write in your journal or read uplifting books. It can be one or a combination of several of those things. It is completely up to you. Know yourself and honor your needs as they are different from anybody else’s.
3. To get free from all the BS.
In order to become deeply happy and truly powerful, David suggests that you have to let go of everything that is holding you back – any of your baggage that is clouding your mind and is putting obstacles in your path to living your vision. This can include your inner BS, such as experiences or trauma from your childhood, your fears or limiting thoughts, your inner wounds. It can also include your outer BS which is all the chaos in your life – relationship problems, money issues and the likes.
It may seem impossible to let go of all the BS and some of our baggage may stay with us throughout our whole life. However, you will have to deal with it to a certain extent. If you do, it will unfold as a healing process which allows you to no longer be completely bound by it. You will develop the ability to get free!
For me, in recent months, I found my true purpose (besides raising two well adjusted members of society) in encouraging others to live a healthier life. Eventually, I would like start a business and become certified as a health coach and yoga instructor when my time and financial resources will allow for that to happen (by the way, completely different from what I thought my life was going to look like just a few years ago). Until then, I will continue to read and research, cook healthy meals for my family and friends, practice yoga and connect with interested and interesting individuals through this very blog.
